Project Objectives

The design project was a joint effort between scotthillDesign and the Uphill Marketing Group. The client came to us to create and build their logo, full branding and web experience for their new Yacht charter Walk’n on Sunshine. The brand and website needed to capture the feeling of the Caribbean, while providing details for the 48’ Dufour Cervetti Catamaran, available destinations and private Crewed Charter yacht vacation. In addition to the charter rates and availability.

  Branding – Logo – Website Design & Development  

Walk’n on Sunshine is a PRIVATE crewed yacht charter that offers the freedom to visit your choice of picturesque locations in the US and British Virgin Islands. They offer several itineraries that take you to a new destination each day, allowing you to experience the Virgin Islands. The captain and chef will help keep you safe and well fed.

The Vision

The vision for the Walk’n on Sunshine brand and web experience was to create a new modern and clean design to promote their Catamaran all-inclusive getaways in the USVI, BVI, and Caribbean. We needed to create a visual identity that captures the feeling of the open seas while communicating the yachts features and services provided by the private crewed captain and professional chef. The challenge was how to differentiate Walk’n on Sunshine from the many different private charters available in the Caribbean, while conveying their passion for exploring the tropical islands and delivering an unforgettable experience for their guests.

The new visual design and brand is evocative, authentic, and clear, and the voice captures Walk’n on Sunshine’s devotion to providing first-class accommodations, fresh and local cuisine, and access to picturesque locations throughout the US and British Virgin Islands.

 

Branding

We designed a brand identity that embodies the Yacht herself, Walk’n on Sunshine a 48’ Dufour Cervetti Catamaran. During the design phase we explored different solutions to capture the feel of the warm Caribbean sun on the open sea. We experimented with typography, iconography, and underwent an extensive brand mark exploration during the creation of the new brand and identity of the Yacht. First was a play on words using the sun and a symbol of feet and flip-flops to capture the feel of exploring the sun along the sea’s horizon. As this was a little too clique, we changed our approach to incorporate the catamaran moving across the open waters. We focussed on creating a sleek and modern catamaran style and captured the feel of movement with the typography and overall design style. The logo and brand have been applied to the Yacht herself and T-shirt for guests who charter Walk’n on Sunshine.

 

 

My Role

As the Creative Lead, Designer and Information Architect I worked with Uphill Marketing Group and the client to gather requirements and understand the overall vision, objectives and business needs for the new Walk’n on Sunshine brand and online experience. With this information I created a workflow and sitemap and translated that into a user experience strategy and framework for the new website. I utilized the brands color palette and created a solid grid system to design layouts to communicate the relation between the Yacht and services they offer to their clients. Combined with photography of Walk’n on Sunshine and different locations around the Caribbean islands.

The website experience was accomplished through the use of creative solutions, strategic planning and execution of the business requirements and objectives within the design and development of the Walk’n on Sunshine website and new brand.

 

 

Our final creative design solutions for the Walk’n on Sunshine brand and website creates a cohesive identity for the Yacht and website that stands out as a great option for travelers looking for a private Yacht charter in the Caribbean. We successfully accomplish all aspects of the Identity and Brand for Walk’n on Sunshine which has created a engaging user experience for the website’s users. The end result is a unified brand experience and web presence that is smart, approachable, and attractive to potential travelers.
